HVAC – Online Training and Certificate Programs

HVAC technicians are responsible for the installation and repair of heating, ventilation and air-conditioning units. They are also sometimes responsible for refrigeration units. HVAC technicians’ jobs are demanding all year round due to climate changes and new ventilation and heating/air-conditioning unites in new or remodeled buildings. Climate control, especially in large industrial and commercial buildings, is critical for safety and health reasons. There are even legal guidelines regarding climate conditions in order to comply with health and safety codes.

Technicians must understand the principles of heat transfer, thermodynamics and fluid transfer. In addition to climate control and designing and maintaining ventilation units, HVAC technicians regulate indoor air quality for allergens and harmful air particles. With clients and consumers becoming more environmentally conscious, HVAC systems are also employing energy efficient units and systems. Designs and implementation must also take energy consumption and environmental impact into consideration. The responsibilities of a technician are tremendous as they impact the health and well-being of others while strictly adhering to the codes and regulations of several organizations and bodies that determine these standards. A proper education and formal training is absolutely necessary for the success of HVAC technicians.

Career and Salary Information

In the United States, HVAC techs make $42,530 per year on average. Experience, training and education make all the difference in a technician’s salary and rate of promotion. HVAC technicians learn on the job as well as from formal training courses and seminars. Once an HVAC technician is working full time, continuing an education and receiving further degrees and certificates becomes difficult due to time constraints and responsibilities. Online training and programs offer a great opportunity to full time technicians because the courses can be done from the comforts of home. Many of these programs are also flexible with their deadlines and time requirements to accommodate busy workers who have full-time jobs and familiars. A serious HVAC technician should look into online training and programs in order to continue their education, stay with rapidly changing industry trends and to allow themselves the opportunity for career advancement.
