Early Education – Online Courses & Degree Programs

Early Education Careers and Outlook

Educators in teaching jobs at the K-12 level play a vital role in guiding the development of young minds. K-12 Education covers the fields of early childhood, elementary, middle, and high schools. The rate of enrollment for K-12 teachers has gone up considerably in recent years and the need to pursue K-12 education through online degree programs has gained in importance. It equips students with the basics of education, teaching techniques, and trends needed to become a teacher or an administrator.

An individual aspiring to impart knowledge and valuable life skills in young students for a successful future need to undertake a bachelor’s degree and complete a teacher training program. The teacher training program must extend to at least one year to help a candidate nurture his classroom teaching skills. In addition to the bachelor’s degree and the training course, a student must appear for an exam to become licensed as a K-12 teaching career in certain states.

Before going for a Bachelor’s degree in K-12 Teaching, a basic knowledge of the curriculum and its job prospects is necessary. This degree consists of general education and applied teacher training. It includes a range of other associated degrees like Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and Secondary Education, Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies, Mathematics Education, Science Education and Social Science Education. A student can have a career in public school teaching on completing any of these degrees.

K-12 educators can also go for a Master’s Degree in K-12 Education to open up broader career opportunities and higher pay. After completion of the Master’s degree, candidates can achieve positions like curriculum developer, instructional coordinator, educational technology consultant, program director, and even principal.

It is estimated that K-12 teachers earn around $48,800 at the kindergarten level to $53,230 for secondary school teaching positions. A K-12 teacher can enjoy his position at the head of a classroom after acquiring a K-12 Teaching degree along with additional benefits like off days and long seasonal breaks.
